This banjo is a prototype created to explore the use of some more uncommon north American hardwoods and some new and exciting design characteristics. It also has a wide, "full profile" (thick) neck that is preferred by some old time players. It also has a Dobson-style spun brass tone ring that is press fit onto a claro walnut integral tone ring. This unique combination combines the depth and resonance of the Dobson tone ring with the warm woodiness of the claro walnut for a wonderful, sweet sound with good volume. Our newest design, this instrument is as beautiful as it is a pleasure to play. It has a deep bentwood pot and rolled brass tone ring that give it a resonant, balanced tone with ample volume and sustain. The gracile neck has a slightly vaulted profile allowing it to fit well in the left hand with wonderful playability. Though this is priced like a midrange instrument it is professional quality. An exceptional value, this instrument allows you the chance to own an heirloom quality, hand made instrument at far less than you might expect to pay.
